Description:
Baclofen is a central nervous system depressant used as a skeletal muscle relaxant. It is primarily used to treat spasticity. Baclofen is also used as a muscle relaxant by compounding pharmacies in topical pain creams.
A beneficial property of Baclofen is that tolerance to its muscle-related therapeutic benefits does not seem to occur to a significant degree (Baclofen retains its therapeutic anti-spasmodic effects even after many years of continued use). Newer studies, however, indicate that tolerance may develop in some people receiving intrathecal baclofen treatment.
Baclofen is a gamma-amino-butyric acid (GABA) derivative which is a specific agonist of GABA-B Receptors. It is used to treat Muscle Spasticity, especially that caused by Spinal Cord Injuries. It is believed to act primarily at the spinal cord level by inhibiting spinal polysynaptic afferent pathways and, to a lesser extent, monosynaptic afferent pathways.
Usage:
Baclofen raw material will be used to produce Baclofen Tablets or other formulations.
